PETTY TRADERS EMPOWERMNMET SCHEME
TRADERMONI
For poverty to be reduced or eradicated there must be some
form of support, training, and development of entrepreneurs. Studies indicate
that low-income countries such as Ghana is one of the countries that has entrepreneurship
rates in the world.
About 70% of poor Ghanaians
are women, 4 in 10 Ghanian women are entrepreneurs but mostly engaged in
hand-to-mouth entrepreneurship.
Sadly, women are shortchanged in the overall support system
for entrepreneurs and that is why AKUA OWUSU AFRIYIEH FOUNDATION (AOA)’s
entrepreneurship program lays emphasis on women. Our grants and interventions
focus on reducing poverty by supporting and developing entrepreneurs and
apprentices.
Women face more obstacles in accessing credit and receiving
training. By stablishing women in entrepreneurship, you are empowering them
financially.
Several studies assert the fact that when women have their
own financial freedom, they do not only lift themselves out of poverty, but
their families and also affect other families as well thereby affecting the overall economy positively.
World Bank’s
assertion that “empowering women is smart economics.”, is indeed a statement
AOA cannot ignore .
We believe that the idea of the ‘womanpreneur’
is an untapped source of job creation and economic growth in a developing
country like GHANA.
AOA foundation believes that there is no better time than
now to put women and girls at the center of all empowerment initiatives.
Equality and empowerment Focus on Sustainable
Development Goals, and we believe that investing in the economic
empowerment of women puts society on the path to gender equality, poverty
eradication, and broad economic growth.
AKUA OWUSU AFRIYIEH foundation is committed to designing initiatives
and invests in all its programs bearing all these in mind.
